Standing behind in the centre is Kate's brother Walter James Minter, but the identity of the man on the left of the photo is uncertain but is possibly brother Henry William (known as William) Kate's wedding picture

It says 'WHM to WJM [William Henry Minter to Walter James Minter] From far away in SA [meaning South Africa, where he was serving with the Royal Scots Fusiliers] It is only a snapshot'. The picture on the front shows him seated in civilian clothes with a dog on his lap. William returned to England with The Royal Scots Fusiliers from South Africa and Gibraltar and, after 24 hours leave, they were all despatched to the Front, where William was killed in action during the first battle at Ypres. 	Walter served with the Royal Engineers during the First World War. In December 1916 he was with the 61st Divisional Engineers, Royal Naval Division (expeditionary force) in France. It is said that on his return home his uniform was so riddled with fleas and other insects that he had to take it off outside the house. 		Photo of Evelyn during her Second World War service in the WAAF. She signs herself with her family pet name of 'Babs'. Following Evelyn's death in January 2012 in Southend Hospital her son Pete Cox and his wife Gill discovered a collection of old photos showing the family and descendants of Henry Minter. The bridesmaid on the right of the photo, standing next to the groom, is Dorothy's niece Evelyn Raymonde Minter. The other bridesmaid was a friend. William John Minter born 1868, Wingham, Kent

Richard was the first son of William and his second wife Annie Maud (Arscott). This picture was taken in the early 1930s when Richard was serving in the RAF and stationed in Malta. It was taken at The Vernon Studio, Malta. Pauline Biggs nee Minter, who supplied these pictures, is Richard's daughter.

Walter James Minter married Kate Viney in 1895. Kate was the sister of Jane Viney, who married Walter James's brother Henry Thomas Minter. Walter and Kate were the grandparents of Cliff Minter, who has done so much to document the history of this and other Kent Minter families.
