However, it's probable that Caroline was Carolina LEONHARD who was baptised on 19 July 1829 at the Evangelisch-Reformierte, Altenkirchen, Pfalz, Bavaria, the daughter of Ludwig LEONHARD and Barbara HOFMANN (source: Germany, Select Births and Baptisms, 1558-1898 at ancestry.com). This is confirmed by the marriage certificate of Carolina's son George: it gives George's mother's maiden name as Caroline Leonard (an anglicized version of Carolina Leonhard).
