  Notes	From findagrave.com: James Luther Morris Jr. went to be with the Lord at 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 19, 2007. He had battled Parkinson's disease for many years. He was born in Penelope, Texas, on March 2, 1918, and always said he was a "devout Texan." His parents were James Luther Morris Sr. and Alice Bertha Morris. Their baby was born the year of the influenza pandemic circling the globe in 1918. His parents kept him at home that year. Jim Morris is pre-deceased by his wife, Velma Ruth Morris, in 2004. He is also pre-deceased by his parents and one brother, Haynes Morris. Jim loved his family: his children, James Allen Morris of Stephenville, his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Roof of Albuquerque, N.M., and his four grandsons, Chip Morris of Las Vegas, Nev., Jack Morris, Morey R. Roof and wife, Tammy, of Socorro, N.M., and Martin W. Roof of Albuquerque, N.M. Survivors also include three brothers, Tom Morris and wife, Estella, of Amarillo, Jack Morris of Plainview, Tut Morris and wife, Tommie, of Mesquite; one sister, Alice Willis of Sherman; and one sister-in-law, Lois Morris. In 1952, Jim Morris contracted with Fidelity Union Life as an agent in Lubbock. Three years later, he moved to Dallas into pension sales and in 1960 became head of the pension sales department. Through the years, Jimmy worked closely with agents in designing and installation of pension and profit sharing plans for their clients. For the past several years, he has been an integral part of the company's pension schools conducted at Wild Briar. Before Fidelity Union Life, Jim spent five years as a lieutenant colonel in the Army's Corps of Engineers. He has received the Army's Bronze and Silver Stars and holds six campaign ribbons presented for his participation in the European-African Theatre. In addition, his engineering battalion was cited with two presidential citations for efficiency. He attended Texas Tech University where he majored in mechanical engineering. For many years, Jim held a membership in the Dallas Rotary Club. He also has been a member of the Council of Profit Sharing Industries and has given numerous talks to civic clubs and CPA associations. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Plainview, and the Wesley Bible Class. As per his wishes, his body has been donated to Texas Tech University for medical science. For those who wish, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice to honor James Luther Morris Jr. The family also suggests contributions to the following charities: American Cancer Society; American Red Cross; Child Evangelism Fellowship, P.O. Box 348, Warrenton, MO 63383-0348; World Vision, P.O. Box 78481, Tacoma, WA 98481-8481; or the First United Methodist Church Family Activity Building, Plainview, Texas.
