  Notes	From findagrave.com: YORKTOWN — John Rudolph Minter Sr., 78, went to be with Jesus on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007. He was a native of Hampton and had been a lifelong Peninsula resident. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a Deacon and Bible Teacher. Throughout his life, he had been involved with all types of Christian Ministries at numerous local Churches. His civic contributions included being on the original Board of Directors for the Peninsula Rescue Mission. He served on the board for close to 40 years. Surviving members of his family include his wife of 57 years, Lois Pierce Minter; children, Rev. John R. Minter Jr., pastor of Yorkminster Baptist Church, and wife, Susan, Russell Ray Minter and wife, Linda, and Cynthia Kay Minter; 10 grandchildren, Scott Minter and fiancee, Jessica Barta, Shawna M. Lamont and husband, Jeremiah, Jeremy Minter and wife, Brandy, Michael Minter, Megan M. Gliebe and husband, Drew, Hannah Minter, Stephen Minter, Seth Minter, Joshua Minter and Grace Minter; four great-grandchildren, Joanna, Katie, Maddie and Reuben, and another on the way. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in the Chapel Mausoleum at Parklawn Memorial Park with Dr. Thurman Hayes and the Rev. John Minter presiding. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Yorkminster Baptist Church, 3105 Hampton Highway, Yorktown, VA 23693.
