      EDEN - Helen Bernice Edens Horsley, 80, of 1308 Carolina Avenue, died Sunday afternoon, May 20, 2007, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

      A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery .

      Mrs. Horsley was born January 5, 1927, in Rockingham County to the late Elzie Martin Edens and Flora Boyd Edens. She was a member of Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired from Fieldcrest Mills, Blanket Division. She also worked part-time for Eden City School in the cafeteria.

      Surviving are husband, Leonard W. "Slick" Horsley of the home; son, Leonard "Bill" W. Horsley, Jr. and wife, Laura of Greensboro; daughter, Cheri H. Gilley and husband, Dock of Little River, S.C.; grandchildren, Len Horsley of Eden, Derek Gilley of Eden, Brian Gilley of Wake Forest; great-grandchildren, Trey and Ty Horsley, Alek, Amelia and Evan Gilley; brothers, Wesley Edens; sisters, Callie Moore and Evelyn Walker.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Rebecca Cleary, Myrl Blackwell, and Frances Pique; and two brothers, Uel Edens and Burton Edens.
