  Notes	At the 1901 census John was a patient in Croydon Union Infirmary, Mayday Road, Croydon. His wife Mary A was at 182 Glister Road, Croydon, aged 24 a laundress. With her was said to be a 3 year-old daughter, Jessie but this was presumably a mistake for Edwin Jesse born in 1897. 1911 census: at 104 Sydenham Road North, Croydon (3 rooms), Mary (head, 37, widow, married 15 years, 1 child, living, washing, worker, born Croydon), Emma WATSON (mother, 68, widow, charing, worker, born London) and Edward (sic) (son, 13, clockmaking, worker, born Croydon). The space for the person completing the form appears to say 'Cross by Mrs Minter.. Walter B Lennard, Enumerator. It's not clear why Mary would have marked with a cross since she appears to have signed her full name in the marriage register when she married John Knight Minter in 1897.
