- In Vol 43 of the Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage Books, as Mrs Mabel Olive Slayback CLARK, born in St Louis, Missouri, wife of Charles Todd CLARK, Mabel shows descendancy from Samuel McDOWELL (1735 - 1817), who served in the House of Delegates and as a colonel of Augusta county Virginia militia. He was given a grant of land in Mercer county, Kentucky, where he was appointed Judge and where he died.
