| Notes |
- George got his Victoria Racing Club jockeys' license on 12 March 1915 (citation The Argus, Melbourne, 13 March 1915, at Trove website). This must have been a re-issue since George had been a jockey for a long time by then - for example he was reported in the The Advertiser, Adelaide on 28 March 1903 as having been suspended 'for disobedience to the starter' on January 26, then getting his license back.
At the time of the issue of Australian Electoral Rolls up to and including 1924, George was included with his parents at Keilor Road, Essendon.
Although George married Jane Archer TAYLOR in 1914 it would appear that by 1919 they had split up: in that year's Electoral Roll George was with his parents at Keilor Road but Jane was living at 34 William Street, Essendon. Jane continued living apart from George up until 1954 (the last year for which Electoral Rolls have been seen) and in 1936 and 1937 had a Robina Naomi Minter, home duties, with her - it's not clear whether this was Jane's daughter or mother.
Later: Robina's birth has now been found, 1914 at Essendon.
George and Jane must at some point have divorced since George married Mary Frances O'Halloran in 1926 and in 1931 George was with Frances in Elizabeth Street, Moonee Ponds.
[A second George Edward Minter also with a wife called Frances was evidently alive in the 1930s and 1940s but lived in New South Wales. The identity of the second George Edward Minter hasn't been established (at December 2010).]
The 1931 Electoral Roll for Moonee Ponds, Maribyrnong, Victoria included at 28 Elizabeth Street:
Minter, George Edward, labourer
Minter, Frances, home duties.
The 1936 Electoral Roll for Moonee Ponds, Maribyrnong, Victoria included at 32 Dean Street:
Minter, George Edward, labourer
Minter, Frances, home duties.
The 1937 Electoral Roll for Berwick, Flinders, Victoria included at Station Road, Officer:
Minter, George Edward, labourer
Minter, Frances, home duties.
The 1942 Electoral Roll for Berwick, Flinders, Victoria included at Station Road, Officer:
Minter, George Edward, labourer
Minter, Frances, home duties.
The 1949 Electoral Roll for Berwick, Flinders, Victoria included at Station Road, Officer:
Minter, George Edward, labourer
Minter, Frances, home duties.
There's an interesting item on the next line after George Edward:
Minter, George Francis, Station Road, Officer, police constable
which has been crossed through and the word 'Mentone' and the date 10.8.93 (?) added. George Francis appears in the 1949 and 1954 Electoral Rolls for Mentone. This suggests George and Francis may have had a son although no details have been found. For the time being (December 2010) it's being assumed that this was the case.
George died in 1950. His widow continued to live at Station Road:
The 1954 & 1963 Electoral Rolls for Berwick, Flinders (Bruce in 1958), Victoria included at Station Road, Officer:
Minter, Frances, home duties.
The 1968 Electoral Roll for Berwick, Holt, Victoria included at Station Road, Officer:
Minter, Frances, home duties.
The 1972 Electoral Roll for Berwick, Holt, Victoria included at Station Road, Officer 3809:
Minter, Frances, home duties.
