    Notes
    • From findagrave.com:
Richard 'Dick' Michel, originally of Trees City, Louisiana, and a resident of Houston, Texas for the last 67 years, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 13, 2014, just 8 days shy of his 94th birthday. Dick attended Louisiana Tech University where he played football and was a member of the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He joined the US Army Air Corps in 1944 and served in World War II where he was a Prisoner of War (POW) until 1945 when the war concluded. He later graduated from The University of Houston with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and had an extensive 30 year career with Anderson Clayton. Dick was also a devoted member at Park Place Baptist Church in Houston.
Dick will be remembered as a devoted husband and father and a treasured granddaddy who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed nothing more than working in his garage, a weekend outdoors on his land in Crockett, Texas, or a trip to the beach in Galveston. He had a soft heart for all animals and was known to take in any stray that came across his path. Dick was never too busy to help you fix something (even if you didn't know it was broken), to play games, or to just sit and have a good talk. His wonderful and unfailing sense of humor will always be remembered with a smile. Dick Michel will be greatly missed and his member cherished by all who knew him.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Mozelle Minter Michel, who was always by his side; his only beloved daughter Tracey Williford and her husband Connie; granddaughter Megan and her husband Patrick, grandson Conner and his wife Jennifer, and grandson Channing; and one great-grandchild, Alice Clairee. He is also survived by his nephew, Mike Jackson and wife Joyce; niece Kay Stockstill and husband Tommy; and niece Jane Maler. Welcoming him into Heaven are his parents, Daisy and Solomon Michel; sisters, Frances Jackson and Doris Durrenburger; and brother S.T. Michel.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to the individuals at Comfort Keepers who provided loving and tender care to Dick and continue to support Mozelle in this difficult time. Donations in honor of Dick's life may be offered to the American Cancer Society or the Houston ASPCA .
A graveside service will take place on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00am at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, located at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, 77079.
