Also several boarders and Mary E LONG (sister in law, born Tennessee) and Jno M MINTER (25, post master), just described as boarder. Note. The Ray-Compton Family tree at ancestry.com shows a marrage about 1870 to Mary A UNKNOWN (1855 - 1880) and two children with her, Ida in 1874 and Laura in 1875. I can't find any evidence to back this up. The 1900 census (below) indicates that Thomas married Fannie when he was 18, ie in about 1866, some years before the supposed marriage to Mary A UNKNOWN. 1900 United States Federal Census: in District 0109, Station, Marshall County, Kentucky, Thomas J MINTER (head, born Apr 1848, 52, married at 18, farmer, born Kentucky) and Fannie M MINTER (wife, born Sep 1848, 51, married at 18, 2 children both dead, born Tennessee). Also Mary J BILMA (ward, born May 1893, 7, birthplace not known, at school) and a hired man, Josiah M TOLBERT (67). 1910 United States Federal Census: not found. 1920 United States Federal Census: in District 0164, Briensburg, Marshall County, Kentucky, Thomas J MINTER (head, 71, farmer, born Kentucky), Sue MINTER (wife, 37, born Kentucky), Bird C MINTER (son, 6, born Kentucky) and Margaret T MINTER (daughter, 3 years 4 months, born KentuckY. Also Charley JOENS* (stepson, 23, born Kentucky, truck driver, grocery store) and Harriet JOHNSON (mother in law, 63, widow, born Kentucky). * this must be the Chas. JONES with whom Susie was living in 1940.
