  Notes	Willam was baptised at Walcot St Swithin on 25 May 1774 as the son of William and Ann (sic) Simper (sic). UK, Register of Duties Paid for Apprentices' Indentures, 1710-1811 (at ancestry.com): 24 October 1788 - duty paid for Apprentices Indentures to Robert Ponting, saddler&c of St Michael's Bath. Katherine Chaveli writes that William married Martha Maria WATKINS, a minor, by licence at Bath St Michael. He is listed as saddler, her father is listed as currier (leather worker) so perhaps they met through this occupation! William signed the marriage certificate "William EdwardS Semper". Prior to the 1841 census, William lived at Park Cottage, Upper Bristol Road, and 17 Borough Walls. At the age of 47, in 1821 William was decared bankrupt. 1841 census: in Crescent Field Cottages, Lansdown, Walcot, Bath (both SEMPER, born in Somerset) William (65, saddler) and Martha (65). William is listed in Pigot's Directory of Somerset c. 1844 as: Semper William Edwards, saddleer, Upper Bristol road, Bath. 1851 census: in Bath St James (all born in Somerset) William E SEMPER (head, 76, annuitant), Rosina SEMPER (wife, 33, dress maker) and Maria WHIMPY (daughter in law, 18, dress maker).
