      William Sherer was born 19 Nov 1790 in York County, South Carolina, the 1st of 9 children born to Thomas Sherer and Ann Robinson. His siblings are Abigail, Sarah, Richard, Tirzah, Margaret, Archibald, Lydia Ann, and Thomas. William married Martha Minter 23 Feb 1813 in York County. Their children, all born in York County, South Carolina, are:

      3. Terisse m George Davis Hood

      Terisse died 16 Feb 1850, age 32. Martha Minter Sherer died 26 Apr 1853, age 59. Terisse and Martha are interred at the Bullock Creek Cemetery in York County, SC.

      William Sherer, with 8 of his adult children, and their families, migrated to Walker County, Alabama in 1855-56. "THEY ALL ENTERED LAND IN WALKER COUNTY AND LIVED ON THE LAND UNTIL THEY DIED" (from grave marker).

      Four of the sons married Kirkpatrick sisters. William's younger brother Thomas (1808-1888) also married a Kirkpatrick.

      James Clark Sherer is interred at the Samaria Cemetery in Jasper, Alabama. His six brothers are at the New Prospect Cemetery, also in Jasper, Alabama. The final resting place for daughter Lorihama, and her husband Thomas M Gabbert, has not been found.

      William Sherer's present grave marker was placed 27 Sep 1950, at a cost of $300, money collected from many Sherer grandchildren, led by Oscar Minter Sherer
