Listed in 1852 Kent Poll as of Basinghall Street, London with vote at New Romney. Listed in the 1852 and 1857 East Kent Polls as of Basinghall Street, London with vote at New Romney District and Parish of Folkestone.
1851 census: at 9 Bell Yard, St Gregory by St Paul, London, John M (29, solicitor) and Jemima (28).
Appeared in the 1856 Electoral Roll for Sandhurst, Victoria, Australia as a solicitor of Bridge Street.
Died in Australia; Jemima Minter committant. Administration of estate in England under £200 as formerly of 7 Trafalgar Place, West Hackney, London, late of Sandhurst, Victoria, Australia, granted on 1 June 1861 to W R Glasier. Buried at White Hills cemetery, exhumed on 19 March 1861 and taken to Bendigo Cemetery and re-interred (see below).

1. 1 June 1861 Effects under £20 in England. Double Probate passed at the Principal Registry September 1861. The Will of John Marsh Minter formerly of 7 Trafalgar-place-West Hackney-road in the County of Middlesex but late of Sandhurst in the Colony of Victoria in Australia Gentleman deceased who died 9 July 1860 at Sandhurst aforesaid was proved at the Prinicipal Registry by the oath of William Richard Glasier of 41 Charing Cross in the said County Auctioneer and Surveyor one of the Executors.
2. 28 September 1861 Effects under £20 in England. The Will of John Marsh Minter formerly of 7 Trafalgar-place-West Hackney-road in the County of Middlesex but late of Sandhurst in the Colony of Victoria in Australia Gentleman deceased who died 9 July 1860 at Sandhurst aforesaid was proved at the Prinicipal Registry by the oath of Jemima Minter of 41 Charing Cross in the said County Widow the Relict the other Executor. Former Grant Principal Registry June 1861.
Jemima arrived on ship Norfolk at Port Philip, Melbourne, Australia in October, a widow, cabin passenger aged 30. When she died in 1866 the committant was Frances Danker.
According to the Bendigos Cemetry Trust website John was buried on 19 March 1861. Interment no. 783, section MON E5, grave no. 783.
