- Apprenticed to Dr Robert Peck at Newmarket. Studied medicine in London; Doctor of Medicine 1827. Practised with Dr Peck and practised at Whitstable June 1828 to 1837.

1841 census: in Church Street, Folkestone, Michael (34, surgeon), Sarah (35) and Sarah (20, independent means). Not known who the younger Sarah was.
Appeared in the 1845 Post Office Directory of Kent (Kelly's) as Michael Minter Esq., MD, Sandgate Road, Folkestone. Mrs Minter also listed, same address. Also listed as a surgeon at Sandgate Road. Also listed at Sandgate as Michael Minter MD and as Minter & Peck.
Appeared in the History & Directory of the County of Kent by S Bagshaw, 1847 as Michael Minter Esq. MD.
Emigrated to Australia in 1849 with wife and family aboard "The Brothers". Settled at Mt. Moriac, Geelong, Victoria.
Sydney Morning Herald:
"Michael Minter MD of Mt. Moriac, Geelong, Victoria. Magistrate." (at marriage of daughter Ella) 16 September 1852.
Pioneer Index Victoria gives age at death as 57, Reg. number 1748.
Appeared in the 1856 Electoral Roll for South Grant, Victoria, Australia as Michael Minter, gentleman of Mount Moriac.
