- Admitted as a Freeman of Canterbury in 1694 as a Victualler by redemption.
Living at Ash in 1705, a husbandman with wife, three children and six servants.
Baptised for a second time, as an adult, on 1 Jan 1706/7, Ash, Kent at age 32.
A Churchwarden at Ash during 1711; he was Churchwarden from 25 March 1711 to 24 March 1711/12. He signed the Parish Annual Return on Ladyday (25 March) 1712. On 28 November 1717, as Churchwarden or one of the Overseers of the Poor, he signed a Settlement Order for Richard Dixon to take to Deal with his family in November 1717.
The Ash Family Reconstitution Files supplied by Cally Schneider in December 2012 contain the following:
" paid Henry Minter three pounds towards paying ye doctors.
13 May 1714 - Henry to take Thomas Sturges and keep him from this till Michaelmas next. Ye said Sturges to have 4 shirts a coat and waistcoat and a pair of breeches."
This has not been verified elsewhere.
Gave bond in 1717 at the administration of his father's estate to his step-mother.
A yeoman of Ash in 1720.
Will proved on 13 January 1721/22, Canterbury Consistory Court. The Will (ref Consistory Court Book 59, No. 537) was seen at Maidstone on 12 April 1954 by Kirkham Sidney Minter, who made the following notes.
Will dated 1 November 1720 of Henry Minter the elder, yeoman, of Ash, Kent.
To sons, George, Thomas and Robert, the sum of £40 each on attaining the age of 21.
To daughters, Ann and Elizabeth, the sum of £30 each on attaining the age of 19.
To any posthumous child of testator, by his wife, Mary Minter, the sum of £40 at the age of 21, if a boy, or the sum of £30, at the age of 19, if a girl.
If any of the sons and daughters mentioned should die before the payment of their portions becomes due, then these portions shall remain in the hands of the executors.
All the rest, residue and remainder of the testator's moveable goods bequeathed to his wife, Mary Minter, and his son, Henry Minter, who are appointed joint executors. It is also testator's will and mind that they should provide meat, drink, linen and woollen, lodging and washing for all the younger children up to the age of 14, without deduction from the latter's portions.
The executors are to receive rents and profits of the testator's property during the wife's natural life. After her decease, these to pass to his sons and their heirs for ever.
