    Notes
    • From findagrave.com:
According to family stories, in 1884, Hannah Baker Tidmore, wife of John W. Tidmore, was killed when a tornado destroyed the log cabin they lived in. The cabin was in the area of Albertville and Guntersville, AL. Hannah held her youngest child, Emma Tidmore, during the storm and Emma was found alive in her mother's arms afterward. John died a few days later from the injuries he sustained. This has been passed down in the family through the generations, but it was always just "word of mouth" until now. Randy Bonds found a photo copy of the actual newspaper article that tells about Hannah and a H.S. Hess (it was actually William Stovall Hess) being killed. Hannah Baker Tidmore is buried in the Mount High Cemetery along with her husband, John.
The actual article in the newspaper is as follows:

      DAMAGED BY A CYCLONE

Chattanooga, Tenn., March 13, 1884. A destructive cyclone passed near Guntersville, Ala., last night. H.S. Hess and Mrs. John Tidmore were killed and John Tidmore and Mrs. Frank Farmer were severely injured. About 30 houses in the path of the storm were blown to atoms. The storm left the earth after moving nearly six miles.
