| Notes |
- Information about Emily comes from Helen Connell, July 2015, who writes:
"In April 1850, Emily Peck married John Hammond of Cressners Manor, Suffolk, and they settled in Folkestone. Over the following decade Robert William Peck, Frederic John Peck, Sarah Maria Peck and Martha Clay Peck [Emily's siblings] all moved to Folkestone."
Emily's husband died in 1860 - she was a widow by 1861, as can be seen below. Emily and John HAMMOND had 3 sons before John's death.
1861 census (1): in Farm House, District 3, Great Blakenham, Suffolk, John E PEACOCK (head, 36, farm of 400 acres employing 15 men & 5 boys, born Blakenham Magna, Suffolk), Harriett J PEACOCK (wife, 34, born Newmarket, Suffolk), John F PEACOCK (son, 6, born Blakenham Magna, Suffolk), Edward B PEACOCK (son, 4, born Blakenham Magna, Suffolk), Edith M PEACOCK (daughter, 3, born Blakenham Magna, Suffolk), Robert I PEACOCK (son, 1, born Blakenham Magna, Suffolk), Henry B PEACOCK (son, under 6 months, born Blakenham Magna, Suffolk) and Emily HAMMOND (visitor, widow, 32, farmers widow, born Newmarket, Suffolk). Also a nurse, a dairy servant, a house servant and an under nurse. Listed last was Henry PEACOCK (brother, unmarried, 27, agricultural pupil, born Blakenham Magna, Suffolk).
[Harriett was Emily's sister, she married John PEACOCK in 1853]
1861 census (2): two of Emily's sons, Herbert, aged 7, and Thomas B, aged 5, were living at Gesyns(?), District 6, Wickhambrook, Suffolk with J R and Martha BURNLEY (?) and their daughter. I haven't found the oldest son.
