Notes |
- Served in Royal Navy (National Archives Series Admiralty: Royal Navy Registers of Seamen's Services Piece 15001-15500).
Ancestry.com have service records for Leslie in connection with a WW1 pension claim. They show that he was 21 years 300 days, an ex sailor of the Royal Navy discharged on 24 July 1917, living in Huntingfield, when he signed on with the Royal Field Artillery at Woolwich on 25 July 1917. He gave his next-of-kin as father Allen Minter of Huntingfield nr. Haylesworth, Suffolk. Leslie was discharged to the Z Reserves on 13 October 1919, having served in France from 7 February 1918 to 12 November 1919. Leslie's trade is noted as horseman and his date of birth as 2 September 1895.
It seems that Leslie signed on again on 19 November 1919 and was discharged about a year later, apparently in good heath.
