This year is confirned by the 1851 census in which Joseph's age was given as 61. 1841 census: in Abbey Street, Thorpe le Soken (all GARNHAM, all born Essex), Joseph (50, ag lab), Elizabeth (51), Elizabeth (17), Susan (15), Martha (15) and Maria (12). Although her age is shown as 25, the Mary Garnham living in Abbey Street with Sarah Garnham (probably her illegitimate daughter) was possibly Joseph's daughter Mary Anne who was born in 1820. 1851 census: in Abbey Street, Thorpe le Soken (all GARNHAM), Joseph (61, ag lab, born Thorpe), Elizabeth (66, born Tattingstone, Suffolk ) and Maria (21, born Thorpe). 1861 census: in Abbey Street, Thorpe le Soken (all GARNHAM), Joseph (73, ag lab, born Thorpe), Elizabeth (77, born Thorpe) and Homany (grandson, 18, ag lab, born Thorpe). Buried in Thorpe le Soken aged 75.
