1861 census: George, 17, was a domestic servant living at 39 Broad Street, Bishopgate, London. Dominic Moore adds that these were lodging rooms.

1871 census: living at 4 Abbey Road West, Hampstead, London, George (27, an umbrella maker), Rhoda (23), Alice Elizabeth (3) and George (19 months). George's brother James (23, also an umbrella maker) was living with him. [Abbey Road Studios occupies what was 3 Abbey Road].

1881 census: at 89 Abbey Road, Hampstead, George (34, miscellaneous dealer), Sarah R (32), Alice E (13), George (11), Florence (9), Robert (8), Edward (7), Henry (4) and Ellen (1). George's mother Mary (70) was living with him.
James BALFOUR and family lived next door at 91 Abbey Road: son John BALFOUR married Alice E Minter in 1885.
1891 census (indexed as MINDER by ancestry.com): still at 89 Abbey Road, George (46, dealer), Rhoda (44), Edward (17, dealer's assistant), Charles (8), Ellen (11) and Rose (3). George's mother was still with him but age now given as 88. Rhoda's sister Frances A PICKARD, 30, a general domestic assistant, was also staying there. Robert (18) and Henry (14) both furniture dealer's assistant, were living at 4 Western Terrace, Kensington with their married brother George.
September 1892: wardrobe dealer of 89 Abbey Road.
Post Office Directory 1893 has George Minter, furniture dealer, 11 Bishops Road, Paddington, London.
1901 census: at 89 Abbey Road still, George (50, clothes dealer), Rhoda (53), Charles (16) and Rose (14).

Form signed Geo Minter.
The identity of Herbert Heffer is a mystery.
March 2008: Dominic Moore notes that "The Pickards were clearly great friends of the Minters: William Thomas PICKARD (Sarah Rhoda PICKARD's brother) and Catherine WEST (sister of James MINTER's wife) were both witnesses of James MINTER'S marriage & were also cousins who later married."
