  Notes	Jenny Taufana has discovered that Jonathan was baptised in Thorpe-le-Soken as Jonathan PILLING. As Henry GARNHAM's Will makes clear, Henry was the father. 1841 census: in Thorp Green, Thorpe-le-Soken, Nathan* (65, ag lab, born Essex), Rachael (60, born Essex), James (30, ag lab, born Essex), Mary (30, born Essex), George (6, born Essex) and Ellen (2, born Essex). Also in the house was Mary Ann Holden(?), 3, not born Essex. * Nathan is but one of several variants of Jonathan's name but 'Jonathan' appeared on the 1811 baptismal record of his daughter Mary. Name appears as 'Ginnethon' in the Thorpe burial register.

The witnesses at the marriage were Homan GARNHAM and Henry GARNHAM, possibly Sarah's uncle and father respectively. Three years later in 1765, John TURPIN was a witness when Henry GARNHAM married for the third time.
