Notes	From findagrave.com, May 2015: Mr. Edwin Eli (Buddy) Gilbert, age 87 of Crockett, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 in the Whitehall Nursing Center. Mr. Gilbert was born April 1, 1922 in Belott, Texas and had lived in Houston County most of his lifetime. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy as an Aircraft Mechanic. After returning home, he married Berta Nell Minter and they were married 58 years. Mr. Gilbert worked as a cabinet maker, farmer, and was employed at Northcutt Woodworks for many years. His hobbies were woodworking and gardening. Mr. Gilbert made many fine pieces of furniture including a violin and learned to play it. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Crockett. Preceded in death by his wife Berta Nell Gilbert; parents Oscar and Rosie Gilbert; sisters Mae Minter, Bessie Coburn, Lillian Tilley, Willie Henley and Loretta Holmes; and brothers George "Son" Richardson and R. L. Gilbert. Funeral Services for Mr. Edwin Eli (Buddy) Gilbert were held Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. Interment followed in the New Energy Cemetery.
