Notes |
- 1901 census: at 67 Bedford Road, Ilford, Essex (all HOTHER), James G (head, 32, accountants clerk, born Edenbridge, Kent), Mary N (wife, 31, born Edenbridge, Kent), Arthur J (son, 7, born Tunbridge Wells, Kent) and Stuart K (son, 3, born Hendon, Middlesex).
1911 census: at 137 Hampton Road, Ilford, Essex (5 rooms) (all HOTHER), Mary Newington (head*, 42, married, 3 children all living, born Edenbridge, Kent), Stuart Killick (son, 13, at school, born Hendon, Middlesex) and Marjorie Hannah (daughter, 7, at school, born Ilford, Essex).
* James George not found - he may have departed for Australia in advance of his wife and daughter who at the ages of 45 and 12 respectively left London on 25 September 1915 on the "Orontes" bound for Fremantle, Australia.
Son Arthur J HOTHER, 21, farmer, left London on 25 September 1914 on the "Orsova", also bound for Fremantle. According to reports at Trove, he fought in WW1, was variously reported as missing, being a prisoner-of-war and having died of gunshot wounds, but was reported in the Western Argus (Kalgoorie, WA) as having arrived in England. I cannot find him though.
I haven't been able to establish what became of James George and his wife Mary.
