- 1911 census: May (24, single, born Huntingfield, Suffolk) was one of many drapers shop assistant living (or counted) at a large, 18 roomed, house called 'St Helens House' in Bishopgate Street, Norwich. The owner was Frank Garland, 45, a draper, who lived there with his wife and two sons.
Garlands of London Street, Norwich was a well-known department store until destroyed by a fire in 1970.

Born in 1886 at Huntingfield, Suffolk. Served as a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse with the Territorial Forces Medical Service. Died in Ipswich, Suffolk in 1958.
