Notes	20 Oct 2005. Chatted to Ivy Minter (Geoff not in) after being put in touch by her son in law, Stephen Christmas. Ivy and Geoff live in Eastbourne. They are in touch with other family members including Gordon (whose wife Pauline died this year or last). Marjorie's children have been to the UK recently. We will exchange notes. 22 Oct 2005. Talked to Geoff Minter. He mentioned a number of things: His father, Harry Gentry Minter, died of heart failure. His mother, Lily, died of a massive stroke the day after Geoff came home from the army. Geoff himself had a heart attack 3 years ago. His sister Marjorie is still alive in Canada. Her son Donald is a surveyor and lives in Montreal; her other son Gary works for Rothmans Tobacco in Toronto. Geoff and his father used to act as 'minders' for a multi-millionaire shipping line owner who had many business interests in London. Geoff and his dad used to live in the Bayswater Road area surrounded by 'toffs' including Winston Churchill. I'm sure Geoff could write a book about his experiences in that job! On his mother's side, Geoff's grandmother was a Hooper, whose father was sergeant major of the Suffolk regiment in the Boer War. From www.legacy.com: Passed away peacefully on Saturday 21st December 2019 aged 89. Deeply loved Husband, Dad and Grandad. Funeral Service at Main Chapel, Eastbourne Crematorium on Tuesday 28th January at 2.00pm
