      Paul OQuan [OQuain, O'Quin, O'Quinn] was the son of Treville and Marie Ellender OQuan [Aucoin, Ocoin] of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.
      A member of Spaight's 11th Texas Volunteers, Paul and his brothers; Joseph, Michel, Pierre, Alexander, and Alexis served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Paul died in a battle with a Union ship in the Sabine River in Jefferson County, TX and was buried on the battlefield.
      He died before his only child was born.
