TURKINGTON (head, married, 30, master tailor), Sarah Jane TURKINGTON (daughter, 3), Jane DOUGLAS (mother, married, 48), John TURKINGTON (brother, 2-, labourer), Thos. DOUGLAS ([step] brother, 21(?), labourer), Danl. DOUGLAS ([step] brother, 15, labourer) and Mary Jane DOUGLAS [step] sister, 11). All born Liverpool. It's not clear what happened but between 1891 and 1901 Samuel appears to have changed wives. He married Sarah Ann JONES in 1881 and she appears to have died, as Sarah Ann TURKINGTON, in 1909. But Samuel married Annie DAVIES in 1899. 1901 census: at 40 Gill Street, St Silas, Liverpool, Samuel TURKINGTON (head, married, 40, master tailor), Annie TURKINGTON (wife, 29), Sarah J TURKINGTON (daughter, 13), Samuel J TURKINGTON (son, 1) and David DAVIES (father-in-law, married, 65, living on own means). All born Liverpool. In 1911 Samuel was a widower aged 50 master tailor. He and Lily TURKINGTON (8, school) and George TURKINGTON (4, school) were visitors at 41 Basing Street, Garston, Liverpool, home of Joseph & Alice DALRYMPLE and their daughter Nellie.
