From legacy.com/obituaries: LAFAYETTE Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Melancon Funeral Home in Carencro for Verleene Minter, age 78, the former Verleene Trent, who passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 10:38 a.m. at River Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette. Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Jimmy Auld, pastor of Alamo Heights Baptist Church, will officiate at the services. Mrs. Minter was a native of Odessa, TX. She lived most of her life in Houston and had been a resident of Lafayette for the past two years. Survivors include her husband of sixty one years, James E. Minter of Lafayette; one son, Gregory Wayne Minter of Rosenberg, TX; one daughter, Karolyn Rahm and her husband, Keith, of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Austin Minter, Ryan Minter, Eric Rahm, Seth Rahm, Cory Rahm and Bailey Rahm; one great grandchild, Ainsley Rose; one twin brother, Vernon Trent of Midland, TX; one sister, Wanda Grizzel of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Trent and the former Ava Younglove both natives of Coleman, TX; and one brother, Wayne Trent. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Eric Rahm, Seth Rahm, Cory Rahm, Ronnie Rimer, Bobby Rimer and Chase Lafosse. Honorary pallbearer will be Austin Menard.
