Also a boarder. 1881 census: at 13 South Terrace, Skelton in Guisbrough, Yorkshire (all DOBSON), John C (head, married, 41, deputy in iron mine, born Stanghow, Cleveland), Hannah (wife, married, 36, born Pickering, Yorks), Jane E (daughter, 11, scholar, born Commondale, Yorks), Hannah M (daughter, 8, scholar, born Glaisdale, Yorks) and Margaret A (daughter, 6, scholar, born Glaisdale, Yorks). 1891 census (1): at 60 Charltons Cottages, Stanghow, Yorkshire (all DOBSON), John (head, widower, 53, ironstone miner, born Stanghow, Yorkshire), Margaret (daughter, 16, born Glaisdale, Yorks) and Robert* (son, 21, ironstone miner, born Glaisdale, Yorks). 1891 census (2): Jane Elisabeth DOBSON (21, born Commondale, Yorks) was a general domestic servant at Lund Court, Skiplam, Yorkshire (home of Elisabeth COVERDALE). * I haven't been able to find out more about Robert. 1901 census: at 60 Charlton Terrace, Stanghow, Yorkshire (all DOBSON), John (head, widower, 60, underground iron miner, born Stanghow, Yorkshire), Margaret (daughter, 26, born Glaisdale, Yorks) and Hilda* (granddaughter, 6, born York). * Hilda's birth registration lacks a mother's maiden name - I suspect she was Margaret's daughter. John died before the next census.
