It was originally printed in the Hickory Daily Record, Hickory North Carolina (approx 11 September 1995): Obituary CONOVER, N.C. - Harold Lee "Doc" Carter, 65, of Lee Cline Road, Conover, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 1995, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born Oct. 5, 1929, in Martinsville, Va., he was a son of Kate Minter Carter and the late LeRoy Carter. He was a truck driver for Hickory Chair and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Barbara Jean Martin Carter of Conover; a daughter, Peggy J. Rufty of Hickory; a son, Ronnie L. Carter of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Barbara White of Martinsville; two brothers, Doug Carter and Roy Carter, both of Martinsville, and five grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2p.m. today at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home chapel in Newton. The Rev. John McMahan will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 352 2nd St., Hickory , N.C. 28601.
