  Notes	1841 census: the following possibly refers: at 2 Church Row, 157 Hounsditch, London, Henry CHRISTIAN (30, Ind, not born Middlesex). 1851 census: in Dulwich Road, Brixton, London, Henry (45, merchant, born Deal, Kent), Sarah (wife *, 39, born Deal, Kent), William (cousin [William Sayer Christian, son of Henry's uncle Henry], 20, clerk merchant, born Deal) and Henry G (nephew [George Henry, son of Mary Ladd Christian], 2, born Brixton, Surrey). 1861 census: in Park Villas, St Mary Lambeth, London, Henry (54, C---meal merchant, born Deal, Kent), Sarah (wife *, 47, born Deal, Kent), George H (nephew [George Henry, son of Mary Ladd Christian], 12, scholar, born Norwood, Surrey), Richard R (nephew, 10, scholar, born Wakefield, Yorks) and Mary Ladd CHRISTIAN (niece, 8, schoalr, born Wakefield, Yorks) . The latter two were George Dear Cristian's children. * Henry and Sarah Minter CHRISTIAN married on 26 April 1863, at which time Henry was shown as the son of Richard May Minter and Sarah the daughter of Henry Christian. Henry was shown as a widower. It's not clear whether the Sarah living with Henry as his wife in 1851 was in fact Sarah Minter CHRISTIAN but (a) there is no other sign of her and (b) there is no sign of an earlier marriage of Henry or the death of a Sarah Christian.

Richard's wife was almost certainly Mary Priest Ladd, whose birth & baptism appear on the IGI with father's name shown as Edward Ladd, mother Susanna. When daughter Mary Ladd Christian was born her parents were shown as Richard May & Mary Priest Christian.
