  Notes	Jane's death was reported in the Decatur Daily Republican on Monday 6 September 1880: This community was somewhat saddened on Sunday morning on learning that Mrs Jane Hunsley, wife of Mr Geo. Hunsley, the drayman, had died at her late residence on East Prairie street. She had been suffering for a long time with cancer of the stomach, but only until recently had she been compelled to cease from her household labors. Everything that money or skill could command or suggest was done for the sufferer. She died at about eleven o'clock on Saturday night. The deceased was a native of England, where she was confirmed as a member of the Church of England when a small girl. She lived the life of a true woman and wife and had hosts of friends in Decatur who will be pained to learn of her death. Her age was about 45 * years. The funeral will take place from St John's Church this afternoon at three o'clock, Rev W H Moore officiating. * Jane would have been 55 when she died, not 45. She is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Decatur - findagrave.com records her inscription as 'w/o George Hunsley, age 55 y 7m'. On 21 September 1880 the Decatur Daily Republican carried a lengthy obituary for Jane from which the following (reported) facts have been extracted. The obituary was furnished by a friend of Jane. - born Lincolnshire on 4 Feb 1824. [I suspect this should be 182«u»5«/u»] - reared in the Episcopal Church and was confirmed in her girlhood. - married George Hunsley on 15 May 1847. - came with her husband to America in 1850, landing at New Orleans on 27 November, possessing only 5 cents in money. - after a short time, moved to St Louis then, after a few months saw an advertisement by Mr William Martin for a man and his wife to go to his farm near Monticello, where they stayed for about 18 months. - moved to Decatur in 1852. - "denied the blessings of children" but adopted 4 daughters and an unstated number of sons. One of the daughters died 2 years before Jane. Both of the above newspapers are at Ancestry.com (December 2013).
