| Notes |
- NB It is assumed that George is Thomas and Mary's son, although no baptism has been found. But the fact that in 1851 George was at Braithwaites Cottages, where Thomas & Mary lived, seems to confirm the relationship.
Another assumption is that George was the 'George Thomas Minter' who married Ann FIELD in 1840, despite the fact that his father was said to be a blacksmith. The name George Thomas could explain the use at various times of 'George' and 'Thomas'.
I've assumed that Henry Thomas Minter, born 6 Dec 1843 and baptised on 21 Dec 1844 at St Pauls, Hammersmith, was George & Ann's son, even though the record at Ancestry's 'All England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975' shows the parents as Thomas and Ann. I've also assumed that the Henry Minter who was buried aged 4 on 10 October 1847 at Hammersmith was the the same person.
In addition to the children listed, George and Ann were the parents of an unnamed female whose birth and death were registered in Kensington RD in Q1 1843. Birth: Kensington 3/273, death Kensington 3/209.
There was another birth registration which looks as if it belongs here: the enhanced GRO birth index shows Henry Minter registered in Q1 1851 Kensington 3/367, mother's maiden name FIELD. I can't find any other refrence to this Henry but am adding him to this family for the time being.
1851 census: at Braithwaite Cottages, Bradmore, Hammersmith, Thomas [see below] (28, bricklayer), Ann (37), Emma (3) and Thomas (3 months).
1861 census (indexed as MINTNER): at 1 Dartmouth Place, Hammersmith, George (41, bricklayer), Ann (45), Mary Emma (14, scholar), Richard (11, scholar), Hannah (9, scholar) and Thomas (3).
1871 census: in Gt George Street, Hammersmith, George (50, bricklayer), Ann (60, charwoman), Richard (20, labourer) and Thomas (14). Daughter Hannah M (17) did domestic work at the House of Mercy (probably a convent) at Great Maplestead, Essex.
1881 census: at 2 Gt George Street, Hammersmith, Thomas [see below] (60, bricklayer), Ann (72) and Hannah Mary (27, ironer).
1891 census: in Hammersmith (street name unreadable), Thomas [see below] (widower, 71, bricklayer) and Anna [Hannah] (31, laundress). There is no trace of Ann's death registration between 1881 and 1891, nor of George's post-1891.
It's not known why 'Thomas' was entered in 1851, 1881and 1891.
