  Notes	The only clue I've been able to find relating to Jack's ancestry is his marriage notes. They give his age in 1952 as 24, implying a birth year of 1927 or 1928 and his birthplace as West Ryde, NSW. It had been thought that Jack's birth was registered at St Kilda, Victoria in 1919 but it's clear that this was not the Jack who married Betty Margaret Minter. The 1919 Jack Gilbert was the son of Alfred John Brenchley Gilbert and Louise Jane Eisele, who married in 1916 (2184/1916).
