Letters of Administration of the Personal estate and effects of Philip James Sanctuary late a Captain in the 5th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry in the Service of the Honourable East India Company before Delhi in the East Indies deceased who died 4 October 1857 at Delhi aforesaid were granted at the Principal Registry to Eliza Sanctuary of Springfield Horsham in the County of Sussex Widow the Relict of the said Deceased she having been first sworn. Effects under £20.
      Entry no. 2: 21 November 1876. Administration of the effects of Philip James Sanctuary late a Captain in the 5th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry in the Service of the Honourable East India Company before Delhi in the East Indies who died 4 October 1857 at Delhi left unadministered by Eliza Sanctuary Widow the Relict was granted at the Principal Registry to Henry Sanctuary now residing at Powerstock near Bridport * in the County of Dorset a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy the Son and only Next of Kin. Former Grant Principal Registry April 1858. Effects under £1,500.
      * Philip's uncle, the Rev. Thomas Sanctuary, was the vicar at St Mary's, Powerstock for 40 years, from 1848 to 1889.
