- Per Geoff Hayes, parents were Edward Robinson Turner and Sarah Ann Hammant. They were married in Victoria in 1879. Edward Robinson Turner was born in England in 1851, the son of John TURNER and Eleanor ROBINSON.
June 2015: Found in the Australian Electoral Rolls:
1912, 1913 and 1914 (but not in years before): in Richmond South, Yarra, Victoria, at 23 Adam Street, South Richmond, Henry Hammond Turner, frenchpolisher and Mary Jane Turner, home duties.
1915, 1916, 1917, 1919, 1921, 1922: in Newport, Melbourne Ports, Victoria, at 10 High Street, Newport, Henry Hammond Turner, frenchpolisher and Mary Jane Turner, home duties.
1924, 1925, 1926, 1927: in Newport, Melbourne Ports, Victoria, at 99 Elizabeth Street, Newport, Henry Hammond Turner, frenchpolisher and Mary Jane Turner, home duties.
1928: in Emerald Hill, Melbourne Ports, Victoria, at 99 Elizabeth Street, Newport, Henry Hammond Turner, frenchpol[isher] and Mary Jane Turner, home duties.
1931, 1934, 1936: in Newport, Melbourne Ports, Victoria, at 73 Elizabeth Street, Newport, Henry Hammond Turner, frenchpolisher, Mary Jane Turner, home duties, Myrtle Jessie Turner, home duties and Victor Robin Edwin Turner, clerk.
[Victor Robin Edwin should almost certainly have read Victor Robert Edwin. His relationship to Henry isn't known. Victor had appeared in Electoral Rolls as far back as 1916: betwen then and 1928 he was living, a clerk, at 35 Elphin Street, Newport with other Turners: Charles Edwin, labourer, Isabella, home duties, and Grace Isabel, home duties. Charles Edwin and Isabella were the parents - they were together in the 1903 Electoral Roll in Aitken Street, Gisbourne, Victoria. Geoff Hayes found the birth of Victor Robert Edwin in 1894 in Gisbourne to Charles Edwin Turner and Isabella Black.]
1937: in Newport, Melbourne Ports, Victoria, at 71 Elizabeth Street, Newport, Henry Hammond Turner, frenchpolisher; at 73 Elizabeth Street, Mary Jane Turner, home duties, Myrtle Jessie Turner, home duties and Victor Robin Edwin Turner, clerk; at 72 Elizabeth Street, Arthur Turner, metal worker and Vera Turner, home duties.
1943: in Newport, Melbourne Ports, Victoria, at 71 Elizabeth Street, Newport, Henry Hammond Turner, frenchpolisher and Rose Mary Turner, home duties; at 73 Elizabeth Street, Myrtle Jessie Turner, home duties and Victor Robin Edwin Turner, clerk. Rose Mary was Rose Mary FIRTH, who married Henry in 1939.
Henry died in 1945; in the 1949 Electoral Roll for South Melbourne, there was Mary Jane Turner at 43 Dinsdale Street, SC6, home duties, apparently alone, but there's no way a telling whether this was Henry's first wife. Not found after 1949.
(Rolls for Newport for 1918, 1920, 1923, 1929, 1930, 1932, 1933, 1935, 1938 - 42, 1944 - 48 are not available at ancestry.com).
