    Notes
    • Death announced in The Times (London, England), Saturday, May 29, 1937; pg. 1; Issue 47697: "On May 28 1937 in London, ELIZA (Lillie), widow of WILLIAM MINTER of Darlington, aged 82."

The following appears on Caroline Ellis's and Kathy Roche Gonot's trees at ancestry.com:
"Darlington has lost another link with its great past by the death last week of Mrs Eliza Minter, widow of Mr William Minter, who was well-known in Darlington for many years as the land agent with Messrs Smith, Gore and Co, the Ecclesiastical Commissioners' agents.

Mrs Minter's father was Mr John Wood Peacock, land agent for the Stockton and Darlington Railway, who died in 1863. He was a nephew of the celebrated Dr George Peacock, who was born at Thornton Hall in 1791 and became Dean of Ely in 1839, being responsible for the restoration of the Cathedral.

Mrs Minter leaves three daughters, Mrs Mabel Bailey, Mrs Bertha Williamson and Mrs Amy Henderson.

It is interesting to recall, too, that Dean Peacock's sister married the Rev. James Rain, the noted Durham historian, who was a native of Ovington near Barnard Castle. Peacock and Raine were the same age and received their education at Richmond Grammar School together. Peacock died in 1858, a month before Raine, and was buried at Ely. "
