Born in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Nelson Minter and Sally Fannie McGuire. Survivors include her husband, Monty L. Gootee; her son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Meghan Wingate; her daughter, Gina Hilton, as well as several other children and grandchildren from a previous marriage. She is also survived by her siblings, William and Keith Minter and Amy Myrick, along with numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dogs Molly and Rusty. Marcia was a 1971 graduate of Great Bridge High School. She received a Bachelor's degree from Strayer University. Her career consisted of working in the business administration field, with her last position being in medical administration. She had a big heart for everybody she knew and enjoyed sending time at Lake Gaston. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Marcia's life will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake 23322. Following the gathering, the family will receive friends at Marcia and Monty's residence.
