| Notes |
- 1911 census: at 10 Noahs Ark Road, Dover (5 rooms), Charles Thomas (head, 24, married, boilermakers labourer, born Folkestone, Kent), Ada Lily (wife, 24 *, married under 1 year, 1 child, 1 living, born Canterbury, Kent) and Charles Hubert George (son, under 2 months, born Dover, Kent).
Form signed Charles Thomas Minter.
* I suspect this was an understatement - Ada was probably Ada Margaret Lilian, born Q3 1882 (Bridge 2a/787), died as Ada M L Minter, age 63, Q4 1945.
1921 census: at 18 Douglas Road, Dover, Kent (all MINTER), Charles Thomas (head, 35y 2m, born Folkestone, Kent, rivetter, shipbuilding & ship repairs, out of work, last employer was Stanlee Salvage Company, Dover Dockyard ), Ada Marguerite Lilian (wife,34y 11m, born Canterbury, Kent, home duties), Charles Hubert George (son, 10y 4m, born Dover, Kent, whole time school), Nora Jane (daughter, 8y 3m, born Dover, Kent, whole time school) and Percy John (son, 5y 9m, born Dover, Kent, whole time school).
Ancestry.com has some of Charles's service records. They show that he enlisted at Canterbury on 8 April 1915 into the East Kent Regiment (The Buffs), at the age of 29. His address was 15 Monk Street, South Woolwich, Kent. The record includes the names of Charles's wife and first three children, together with their dates of birth. Charles's trade is shown as riveter.
Charles was posted to France on 4 February 1916 as part of the British Expeditionary Force and returned home on 4 February, to be discharged as unfit for further war service on 15 March 1916 after 342 days service. The record doesn't show what was wrong with him.
