  Notes	BIOGRAPHY: Thomas L SIMMS was born abt 1841. He served the Confederacy during the Civil War with the 32nd Texas Regiment, Ector's Brigade. During the conflict, he was promoted to Regimental Sergeant Major after Sergeant Luther Williams lost his life during an engagement at Richmond, Kentucky. After returning home from the War, on 10 May, 1865, Tom married Miss Fannie H. MINTER, a daughter of J. T. (Pappy) MINTER. They established their home at Bethel, Hopkins County, Texas, where they raised a rather large family, and contributed much to the community. They were active workers in the Baptist Church at Bethel.
