- The London Gazette of 7 April 1915 records that Gordon Minter Frieake was promoted to temporary 2nd Lieutenant in a War Office order of 7 April 1915.
Gordon M FRIEAKE was mortally wounded at the battle of the Somme in July 1916 and later died on 1 August 1916 at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and only 19 years of age. He is buried in St Sever Cemetery, Rouen, France.
