  Notes	Made a Freeman of Dover on 17 October 1766 by marriage of Margaret daughter of Charles CAUSEY. Chosen as mayor of Folkestone on 1 September 1786 for one year, re-elected for the ensuing year, re-elected mayor of Folkestone on 8 September 1788 for the ensuing year. Owner occupier of house in Folkestone in 1790. Listed in East Kent Poll of 1790 for Dover. Death announced in Kentish Gazette of 3 February 1795: "Tuesday last died at Folkestone, Michael Minter esq., greatly lamented as a good husband and an indulgent father: deservedly beloved by his friends and relatives: esteemed by all who knew him. Naturally generous and compassionate and a friend to mankind. He lived and died an example to the rich, a friend to the poor and truly regretted as a good companion by all his acquaintance." An almost identical announcement was in the February 1795 Kentish Register: "Death: on January 27 at Folkestone, M. Minter esq., one of the Jurats of that port: greatly lamented as a good husband and an indulgent father: deservedly beloved by his friends and esteemed by all who knew him. Naturally generous and compassionate, he lived and died an example to the rich, a friend to the poor and truly regretted as a good companion." Monumental Inscription (it isn't clear whether the following is all on the same headstone): "Michael Minter one of the Jurat died Jan 1795. Age _6 years left wife Margaret and sons and daughter John Margaret & Jane. Also Margaret wife of above Mr. Michael M. died 17 July 1797 age 57. Also Sarah their daughter died 2nd March 1829 age 62 and Arabella widow of John Minter died 29 Dec. 1829 age 78." Will dated 1 June 1793 a gentleman and Jurat of Folkestone proved 4 March at Canterbury Archdeaconry Court.
