The Times (London, England), Monday, Oct 18, 1909; pg. 4; Issue 39093.: "The King has sent the Rev. J V Minter a donation of 25 guineas towards the expenses of St Ethelreda, the Newmarket Union Workhouse Church, choir excursion."

The New Zealand newspaper 'Dominion' of 11 March 1910 carried the following item under 'Home News':
A Newmarket telegram states that the Rev. John Vincer Minter, the only workhouse master known who is also a clerk in holy orders, has just notified his intention of resigning that office, which he has held for twenty-one years, to take up the chaplaincy of the Barnet Union workhouse. During his period of service at Newmarket he had shown the King and the late Duke of Cambridge round the institution.
