| Notes |
- In 1861 George, 28, was living in Sheldwich with his mother and father and sister Alice.
In 1871, now 38, George was farming at Pontins Farm, Moldash, Kent, with 160 acres, 5 labourers and a boy. He had by now married Louisa Amelia EPPS. Their daughter, also Louisa Amelia (but known as Louie), 6, was however staying with the Epps family.
By 1881 George and Louisa appear to have split up. George was lodging, still described as a farmer, with John and Sarah NEW in Heston, Middlesex. Louisa and her daughter were living in Selling, Kent where Louisa was acting as housekeeper to William MISKIN and family.
There is no trace of George in 1891. He may have died shortly after the census was taken, in Q4 1891 at Wandsworth, London, aged 59 *. Meanwhile Louisa and her daughter were living in Westgate, Kent, 'visitors' with Charles HILLS a 35 year-old widower and his 1 year old daughter. Louisa was described as living on her own means.
* An entry in ancestry's UK, Lunacy Patients Admission Registers, 1846-1912 almost certainly refers to this George Minter. It shows he was admitted to an institution in Wandsworth on 7 February 1890 and remained there until he died on 23 October 1891.
The younger Louisa Amelia married Charles HILLS in Q4 1894 in Canterbury and appears with him and their two daughters, Louie, 11, and Mabel, 6, on the 1901 census in Canterbury. Louisa's mother was still living in 1901, described as a widow (which might confirmn George's death in 1891), living at 36 Nunnery Fields, Selling, Kent; aged 67 a lodging house keeper. She died, aged 75, in Q3 1909 in Canterbury.
