      July 2018, from James Earley:
A story in the "Ron Richards Shop Talk" column in the Good Morning of 9 February 1944, confirms that Dick Minter received the DSM. The story reports that Dick, having been captured when the submarine 'Sahib' was sunk, escaped from a prison camp in Italy and eventually found his way back home to Canterbury.
A copy of the story is on Minter Exchange.

At the end of the war Dick Minter served on the Hospital Ship 'Ophir' - the one captained by Captain Venema and referred to in 2001 by Hazel Minter. Much more on this was provided in August 2022 by Laura Schofield, daughter of Len Schofield who served with Dick Minter on HMHS Ophir. The story and pictures are on Minter Exchange.
