Alexander BURGESS

Abt 1831 - 1873  (42 years)

• Name	Alexander BURGESS
Birth	Abt 1831	Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland
  Gender	Male
  _UID	0CBE0A61B43943648D32AE8F6A7F2FFDDA85
Death	1873	Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland   [1]
Notes	1851 census: in Dawell Brae, Dunbar, Alexander (20, fisherman) and Helen (20). 1861 census: in Dawell Brae, Dunbar, Alex (31, fisherman), Ellen (31), Alex (12), Ann (4) and Ellen (2). 1871 census: in Shore, Dunbar, Alexr (40, fisherman), Helen (40), Alexr (19, fisherman), Ann (15, 'inmate'), Helen (13, 'inmate'), Mary Ann (10, scholar), Elizabeth (7, scholar), Robert (5, scholar), Marion (3, scholar) and Margaret (3 months, 'inmate'). 1881 census: the following details probably relate but 'Isabella' is a puzzle, unless she was Elizabeth by another name. And it's not clear why the family would have been living in Stenton. In Stenton, Helen (head, widow, ag lab, born Dunbar), Isabella (18, ag lab), Robert (14, ag labe) and William (8, scholar). 1891 census: at 2 Shore Street, Dunbar, Helen (head, 60), Marion (22, agricultural outworker), Margaret (20, agricultural outworker), William (18, agricultural labourer) and Alexander (described as son, 7, scholar). January 2009: email contact via Genes Reunited with Lorna Prime. Lorna has a large tree at GR which shows among other things that Alexander and Helen Burgess had 12 children altogether. Lorna is descended from the eldest of them, Alexander Burgess, born in Dunbar in 1852.
