  Notes	Ancestry.com has Robert's service record in connection with a WW1 pension claim. It shows that Robert enlisted in the Norfolk Regiment on 19 October 1884 giving his age as 18 years 9 months, occupation labourer, birthplace New Catton, Norwich. He was discharged at his own request on 8 January 1913 after over 18 years service, having been in India, Somaliland, South Africa, Hong Kong and Singapore. He gave his next-of-kin as his father Samuel Minter of 4 Stone Arch, Waterloo Road, New Catton, Norwich and his elder brother Samuel of the Norfolk Regiment. Robert enlisted again, to the East Kent Regiment, on 14 October 1914 giving his birthplace as Norwich, his age as 39 years 220 days and his occupation as fitter. His next-of-kin is recorded as wife Margaret, sons George and Robert and daughter Margaret of 6 Afghan Place, St Clements Hill, Norwich (George and Margaret were his wife's children from her first marriage). He was discharged to the Z Reserve on 20 April 1919, his pension claim for disability rejected.
