  Notes	The fact that Joseph's daughter Susanna Clark Holman was, in 1851, living with her aunt Ann Holman, the widow of Thomas Holman (born c. 1774) suggests strongly that Joseph Holman and Thomas Holman were brothers. But despite intensive searching I've been unable to establish who their parents were. 1841 census (1): in Dover Street, Folkestone (all HOLMAN, all born in Kent except Joseph senior), Joseph (50, independent, born in foreign parts), Elizabeth (35), John (7), Thomas (5) and Joseph (3). Also one male and two female servants. 1841 census (2) Joseph's daughter Susanna HOLMAN (9) was a pupil at Parade House Academy, Folkestone, Kent. Joseph and his son John died before the next census and Joseph's widow re-married. 1851 census (1): Susannah HOLMAN (19, born Fokestone) was living with her aunt, Ann HOLMAN (widow, 54, lady) in Upper Sandgate Road, Folkestone, Kent.. 1851 census (2): Thomas HOLMAN (14) and Joseph HOLMAN (10), both born Folkestone, were scholars at Church Yard Garden School House, Oundle, Northants.
