V.T. "Tommy" Gleason of Tomball, TX, died February 24, 1999 after a brief illness with cancer. Born August 28, 1932, he was the son of the late Timothy Patrick Gleason of Burlington, TX and the late Doris White-Gleason of Maysfield, TX.
Tommy grew up on the family farm in Maysfield and graduated from Yoe High school in Cameron, TX. After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, he graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a BS degree in agriculture. While continuously pursuing his lifelong devotion to ranching in Milam County, TX, he engaged in numerous other beef cattle ventures and served many years with the Armour Meat Packing Co. and later with swift Premium as a specialist in livestock procurement. He served for many years as a livestock judge for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo of which he was a Lifetime Member and was a judge for the Brazos County Youth Livestock Show in Bryan, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret; and three children Randy Gleason and wife Karen of Missouri City, TX; Julie Gleason Pye and husband, Chuck, of College station, TX; and Terri Gleason Brooke and husband, Greg, of Houston, TX; and grandchildren, Kendall and Kyle Pye and Lauren, Lindsey, and Hunter Brooke. He is survived by one brother, Pat Gleason and wife, Billie, of Glendale, Missouri.
Tommy will best be remembered for his loving support as a husband, father and grandfather and for his perseverance, integrity and charm, and for his devotion to Texas and its beef cattle industry. Visitation will be at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 West Main, Tomball, TX. 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday, February 26, 1999. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 27, 1999 also at Klein Funeral Home. There will be a Graveside Service on Saturday at 3:00 pm at Pebble Grove Cemetery in Milam County. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Houston Hospice, 8811 Gaylord, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77024.
