EGGLETON (47), James MINTER (20, farmer), Caroline MINTER (21), Woody EGGLETON (16, farmer), Hardin EGGLETON (14), America EGGLETON (female, 13), Granwith EGGLETON (male, 10), Susan EGGLETON (8) and Joseph EGGLETON (5). 1860 US Federal Census: in Henry County, Virginia (all Minter, all born Virginia), James (32, farmer), Matilda (32), Constant (female*, 11), Amanda (9), Silas (8), Joseph (6), Nancy (4) and James (2). * although 'Constant' appears in the 1860 census as female, I think this must be the male known as 'Connaway W' MINTER in the 1880 census. There appears to have been continuing confusion about the name, which looks like 'Conny' in 1900, 'Watton C' in 1910 (corrected at Ancestry to 'Walter C') and 'Constance W' in 1920. I have adopted 'Constance Walter' as the name. 1870 US Federal Census: in Leatherwood, Henry County, Virginia (all Minter, all born Virginia), M C (Female, 40, keeping house), Silas (16, farm labor), Chaney N (13, at home), James B (10, farm labor), John H (9, at home) and Granwith W (2). It's unclear who Granwith W was but other internet sources have Granville Woody Minter, born 3 Sep 1862.. Son Joseph was probably counted with his grandfather Silas Minter. 1880 US Federal Census: in Leatherwood, Henry County, Virginia, Caroline MINTER (widow, 53, mid-wife) was with daughter Chaney and her husband John F COMPTON and their two children. Also there was Caroline's son Harden MNTER (16, works on farm). On the same page is Toney M COMPTON who would become the husband of Caroline MINTER's grandaughter. 1900 US Federal Census: in Leatherwood, Henry County, Virginia, Matilda C MINTER (widow, 71) was with daughter Nancy C and her husband John COMPTON and their nine children.
